INDIANAPOLIS – Joey Hunt is probably more known as ‘the guy with the hair’ to Colts fans.

He also was the guy that the Colts used at left guard, when Quenton Nelson moved over to left tackle, for 10 snaps against the Raiders.

Instead of rookie Danny Pinter, it was Hunt that the Colts slid into that left guard spot when they moved Nelson out to left tackle with Anthony Castonzo in the locker room for a few minutes against Las Vegas.

What that showed is the Colts do think something of Hunt, who started 8 games for Seattle in 2019 (he has 11 career starts since being drafted in the 6th Round in 2016).

The need to see Hunt for any more than the 10 offensive snaps he played in 2020 wasn’t there for the Colts.

Interior guys Quenton Nelson, Ryan Kelly and Mark Glowinski combined to miss just 1 game (that’s when Danny Pinter started at center for Kelly). Glowinski was the only Colts offensive/defensive player to play every snap last season.

At 26, with center and guard background, Hunt offers some reason to bring him back as a reserve.

Other interior backup options are there with Pinter and Jake Eldrenkamp.

But Hunt is a guy that the Colts have trusted before and has a decent amount of NFL experience.
