INDIANAPOLIS – The 2024 Colts season now has a closing date.
And it will be void of playoff football for a 4th straight season.
Following Sunday’s horrific loss to the worst team in the NFL, the Colts deservedly became the ones to end their own prayerful playoff hopes.
Missing the postseason for a 4th straight season (despite the format increasing from 6 to 7 teams in each division in 2020) and no playoff wins for 6 straight years marks the longest drought for the Colts franchise in 30 years.
After losing in Denver back in Week 15, the Colts were eliminated from the lowly AFC South, despite 3 weeks left in the season. That brought things to a decade-long span without the Colts winning the worst division in the AFC.
The loss to the Broncos also put the Colts in a position where they needed hopes and prayers to get a Wild Card spot.
After surviving Saturday’s games with the Bengals beating the Broncos in overtime, the Colts then had to their part to make Week 18 interesting.
Instead, they suffered one of the more embarrassing losses in recent memory for the franchise.
The Colts will conclude the season next weekend at home versus the Jaguars.
Currently, the Colts hold the 13th position in the 2025 Draft.
Will the longest playoff drought in 30 years have any impact on Jim Irsay in the direction of his franchise?
