Indianapolis Colts rookie defensive end Kwity Paye is the the largest human being I’ve ever seen.

He’s not the tallest. But for how he is built, this dude is absolutely massive. His lower body looks like it could leg press a monster truck.

The physical side of Paye has always been there for the 1st-round pick out of Michigan. But so has his attitude. That was on full display when Kevin Bowen and I chatted with him at training camp last month.

Awesome stuff.

Even though Paye has glistened in the bright lights so far, he still hasn’t necessarily had a true exam yet. He’s had a bunch of quizzes; Acing all of them.

Will Holden and Sam Tevi? That’s the soup and salad coming to him at the dinner table. Gone in seconds.

The Minnesota Vikings exhibition? Small appetizer.

Lastly in Detroit? The main course was still on its way.

Now we are here. Week 1. Seattle Seahawks. Lucas Oil Stadium. And a date with four-time pro-bowl left tackle Duane Brown.

Just today, Brown had the final year of his contract restructured. He had been “holding in” at practice; Meaning he was participating in team meetings and walkthroughs, but was not practicing. Now, he’s ready to roll.

Paye will make his first career start on the right side of the line next to DeForest Buckner, Grover Stewart, and Al-Quadin Muhammad.

Even though Brown hasn’t been practicing, this is like an Eric Fisher situation. You put him in when he’s ready and you’re pretty confident that the player won’t miss a beat.

Paye has feasted on very average left tackles for the last month and change.

He’s looked great. But now it’s time to really see what this kid has.
