LAS VEGAS–You might know competitive eater Joey Chestnut as the man who has won the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest 15 times. On Wednesday, he set another record. This one was for eating chicken fingers.

Raising Cane’s opened up a new location in Las Vegas on Wednesday, July 27 (National Chicken Finger Day). They invited Chestnut to see if he could set a new Raising Cane’s “Chicken Finger Eating Record.” He did. Chestnut ate 44 chicken fingers in five minutes.

“I’ve always loved Raising Cane’s chicken fingers. They’re big. They’re meaty, but they’re delicious. I’m going to have to hustle. I’m going to find my happy place and keep going. I think 40 or 50 is doable,” said Chestnut before the competition.

When Chestnut entered Raising Cane’s, he was greeted with chants of “Joey! Joey! Joey!” The same chants were heard after he set the record.

Chestnut, who lives in Westfield, won the hot dog eating contest this year while dealing with a ruptured tendon in his leg. He is still dealing with that injury. Chestnut was in a walking boot Wednesday.
