PORTLAND, Ore.–A player from the Portland Trail Blazers has been fined for his actions towards an Indiana Pacers fan Sunday night.

NBA President of League Operations Byron Spruell announced that Trail Blazers Center Jusuf Nurkic was fined $40,000 for “confronting a fan courtside and grabbing the fan’s cell phone and throwing it into the spectator stands.”

In a viral video of the incident, Nurkic is seen face-to-face with a fan wearing a Pacers jersey when he grabs the fan’s phone and tosses it into a row of seats behind him before a security guard intervenes.

Multiple reports say the fan told Nurkic that “your Mom is trash” and called his grandmother a “bitch.” Nurkic’s grandmother died of COVID-19 back in 2020.

Nurkic has not been able to play in the last month because he has plantar fasciitis.

The Pacers beat the Trail Blazers Sunday 129-98.
