New Defense? No Problem according to Colts’ safety Nick Cross
(WESTFIELD, Ind.) The 2024 Indianapolis Colts were not good enough. General manager Chris Ballard admits it, head coach Shane Steichen agrees, the new trio of team owners have said this at length.
A big reason why? The struggling defense, led at the time by defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.
Fast forward to the offseason, Bradley exits and former Cincinnati Bengals DC Lou Anarumo enters. Known as a defensive mastermind- the former Purdue assistant promises to bring a new stye of defense to the Circle City, and his starting strong safety Nick Cross agrees.
“It’s exciting to go and learn the new defense and be a part of something great,” Cross explained on The Ride with JMV. “Coach Lou is a (defensive back) guy at heart… it’s good to have somebody like that as the leader of the defense.”
Cross describes how he feels heading into the 2025 season as the Colts get Training Camp underway from Grand Park in Westfield.
Entering his second season as the full-time starting safety, Cross details what he expects from the new look defense with Anarumo at the helm and a pair of new starters in the secondary.
