You may not have known his name last week but you certainly know him now.  Kyle Kaiser made a whole lot of noise at last weekend’s Indy 500 qualifications as he was able to solidify himself as the final racer in the field at the 500.  During the process, he was able to bump international racing star Fernando Alonso off of the field.  He sits down with DD and talks about what he expects in this race.  Starting in the last row, he hopes to keep his underdog chances alive and knock off some more huge names.

How does it feel to be a David knocking out a Goliath like Fernando Alonso?

“There is no doubt that we were the David in this situation because we came to Indianapolis with no sponsors.  Especially compared to the funding that McLaren has, its clear that we were the underdogs.  We were already predicted to not make the field.  Obviously McLaren was having some issues as well but I was hearing later in the week before qualifying how they were buying Andretti stocks and Penske setups.   They were throwing everything at it so it was not a lack of effort on their end.”

Starting in the final row certainly is a challenge.  What does it take to get to the front of the field?

“It definitely takes the resources.  You obviously need to have the heart but you also need to have the funding and resources to get to the front of the field because it is such a challenge and its just that competitive.”

1070 The Fan will keep you in the loop as raceday further approaches and will be sure keep tabs on Kyle Kaiser as he hopes to be the first driver to cross the checkered flag come Sunday.
