Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan joins The Fan Morning Show with Jeff and Big Joe to discuss the NBA draft. Kevin Bowen talks about the Pacers picking up Goga Bitadze and if that is the right choice for the Pacers program. Kevin Bowen also talks about what he feels the Pacers’ lineup will look like this year.
“What have you been able to find out about Goga Bitazde?”
“Yes I’m glad you prefaced with that because I’ve watched about three minutes of youtube highlights of Goga. I think what we know about him is this: a lot of people thought he was the best international player in the draft. A lot of people thought he was the best center in the draft. Many, like the Pacers, with Nate McMillan not watching film with him until, whatever, eight o’clock eight thirty when they drafted him. The Pacers thought he would go in the top ten so I think from a value standpoint there’s a real value there at pick eighteen. The big question is you obviously took the best player available not best player available given your current roster construction. Again, in the few minutes of highlights I’ve seen, you see skill, you see a guy that can shoot the basketball with solid form. His stats in the top league in Europe, which I think is really key, he’s played in the best leagues in Europe which a lot of people will say is right up there with any college basketball league, is better than the G league. He’s put up pretty good numbers for a guy that is only nineteen years old. The biggest question obviously is where does he fit.”
