The Pacers came up short in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, falling to the Oklahoma City Thunder. One of the biggest “What ifs” in sports occurred with Tyrese Haliburton tearing his Achilles in the first quarter. Had Haliburton been fully healthy, could the Pacers have pulled off one of the greatest upsets in sports history and capped off a postseason for the ages? We’ll never know. We do know it’s a long and winding road for Haliburton and the snowball effect 1from the injury that is going to take place this off-season could have long-lasting implications.
As he did all season long, head coach Rick Carlisle joined the show and discussed the end of the season, Game 7 shortcomings and started the conversation with the latest on Haliburton’s recovery.
“I spoke to him last night after surgery and he said he’s going to be all good. So that was a big uplifting moment for me.” – Rick Carlisle on speaking to Haliburton following his surgery
Carlisle also discussed the epic postseason the Pacers went on, his appreciation for the roster that was assembled and the big off-season question mark surrounding Myles Turner’s contract.
“I don’t think it’s any secret that [Turner] is the top off-season priority. I’m not privy to every conversation going on but Myles is a very important part of what we’re doing.” – Rick Carlisle on Myles Turner’s impending free agency
