U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming to Return to Indianapolis in 2028
Indianapolis is set to host the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming once again in June 2028, marking a triumphant return to Lucas Oil Stadium after the record-breaking success of the 2024 event.
This premier competition will determine the swimmers representing Team USA at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, offering fans another chance to witness world-class athletes in action.
The 2024 Trials set an unprecedented standard, drawing over 285,000 fans and breaking global attendance records for a swim meet.
Held at Lucas Oil Stadium, the event introduced a stunning setup with three temporary pools, including a 50-meter competition pool, transforming the home of the Indianapolis Colts into an aquatic arena.

The city’s showcase of elite swimming talent and vibrant fan experience made it a natural choice for the 2028 Trials.
Economic and community impact has been a major highlight of these events.
The 2024 Trials generated an estimated $132 million for Indianapolis and included projects like water safety initiatives that taught swimming to 50,000 underserved kids and adults.
These legacy efforts will continue, expanding access to swimming and promoting water safety in the region.
For 2028, organizers aim to surpass expectations by enhancing fan engagement through activities such as the Toyota Aqua Zone and USA Swimming House.
The Indiana Convention Center will also host interactive exhibits and hospitality experiences, ensuring the city-wide celebration of swimming extends beyond the stadium.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Trials back to Indianapolis,” said Patrick Talty, Indiana Sports Corp President. “This event showcases why Indy is the best host city in the country and carries a lasting impact far beyond its nine days.”
With plans already underway, the 2028 U.S. Olympic Team Trials promise to be an unforgettable celebration of talent, community, and Olympic dreams.
