While the Indianapolis Colts gear up for the NFL Draft, their new defensive play caller is getting settled into the Circle City.

Lou Anarumo, the Colts defensive coordinator entering his first season in Indy, has been busy getting familiar with his new team and players as the Colts look to put a disappointing 2024 season behind them. Anarumo replaces former DC Gus Bradley and will look to revitalize a Colts defense that never really found its footing over the last three season.

During the Tuesday edition of The Ride With JMV live from the NFL Combine, Anarumo joined the show, and spoke to John about joining the Colts organization.

“Super excited to get to work with these guys. You talk about some premier guys up front, and Kenny Moore in the back end, Zaire [Franklin], what he did last year in terms of production.  It’s a good group to work with for sure. I think that as we all look back on our seasons from a year ago, there’s things we can improve on, including myself, but man I’m anxious to get to work with these guys.”

Lou also spoke about his defensive philosophy, and how it has to be adaptable.

“Every game plan is going to be different based on who we’re playing. Some games you’re going to play the elite, elite quarterbacks, the Mahomes of the world and those types of people, and that gameplan with the aggressiveness may not suite one against maybe somebody else, but you always want to try and keep those guys off balance. So, at the end of the day, it’s a balancing act of what you want to do in terms of pressure and whether you pressure a guy or whether you don’t.”
