Colts vs Jaguars Preview + NFL Week 18 Picks

At long last, we’ve made it to the final week of the NFL regular season.
If you’re a Colts fan, it feels like the end of a dreary march through mediocrity. Indy is out of the playoff picture, courtesy of the 3-13 New York Giants. We all saw the horror show last Sunday, as the Colts defense wilted and let Drew Lock (seriously) and a miserable Giants offense score a season-high 45 points. Many have pointed out in the days since that the Colts defense is good at only one thing, and that’s letting opposing players and offenses have career or season-best performances. I can’t argue against that sentiment.
Now, with nothing left to play for other than pride, the Colts get an equally miserable Jacksonville Jaguars team that will also be starting a backup quarterback to close out the season. The status of Anthony Richardson remains unclear; he missed practice again on Thursday after revealing to the media on Wednesday that he has suffered from back spasms since 8th grade, and that a recent MRI has shown that he has a “disk issue”. Aside from how this impacts his availability on Sunday, it also raises a ton of questions for an offseason that is already filled with them. Will Chirs Ballard, Shane Steichen, and Gus Bradley be back? Did the Colts know about Richardson’s back issues when they drafted him? Do those issues affect their long-term view of him going forward? These are all things that will be asked as the Colts once again get ready for an early vacation.
