Start ’em, Sit ’em Fantasy Football Week 10 – All Positions

Welcome to week 10 of the NFL season as we’ve now into November. And, by now, things are getting real. We’re seeing separation between the good teams and the bad. And in fantasy football terms it’s time to get going with the playoffs about a month away.
So, let’s keep riding the positive wave as last week we nailed many of our start ’em/sit ’em situations. Take a look below and let me know where I’m right and wrong…
***Disclaimer*** I give this statement every week but it’s important to remember there are players you’re basically starting or sitting each week. I tend to try and pick some of the more 50/50 players and write about them. You’ll see that trend as you go.
Quarterbacks
Start ’em – Brock Purdy

Brock Purdy – Admittedly, I almost wrote about Daniel Jones this week, but in the end I just couldn’t do it. If you’re desperate he might be a good matchup against Carolina, though. Anyways, let’s discuss Purdy. I think this week against Tampa Bay might be a perfect mix for the Niners and Purdy. There’s a real chance Christian McCaffrey is back along with Jauan Jennings, plus the availability of rookie WR Ricky Pearsall. The real kicker is the emergence of Purdy in the running game…16 carries, 83 yards, and 3 TD the last 3 games. I’m hoping he hits 23-25 fantasy points this week in Tampa Bay.
Sit ’em – Caleb Williams

Caleb Williams – There was a time just a few weeks ago that I thought Caleb Williams could be a legit QB1. But the last two weeks have made me rethink that possibility. Williams totaled just 19.2 points in those two weeks with 0 TD and a 47.7% completion percentage. So, let me ask, do you trust this Bears offense? Even with a solid matchup against the Patriots he’ll be riding my bench.
Running Backs
Start’ em – Tyrone Tracy Jr.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. – I’ve written about Tracy a couple times in these posts because he’s got a pretty high ceiling. Unfortunately, there have been lows since he’s on a pretty anemic offense. We know he’s going to get the touches but will the production turn into fantasy points? That’s the big question. So, with good players on bad teams, I always look at matchups. And there’s no better one than the Giants facing the Panthers. Carolina has allowed six running backs to go for more than 20 points in a game. Especially if he can get into the endzone, I think Tracy will become the seventh.
Sit ’em – David Montgomery

David Montgomery – I’ll be honest, I struggled with who to “sit” this week. I love the player and appreciate his fantasy production over the last couple years, but don’t love the matchup. The last three games he’s averaged just 11.84 points and has become reliant on getting in the endzone to produce at a high fantasy level. You also can’t forget how many weapons Detroit has. They’re a loaded offensive football team and are expected to get WR Jameson Williams back this week.
Wide Receiver
Start ’em – Jauan Jennings

Jauan Jennings – I’m going to make another disclaimer…here are two names and only consider these guys if you’re desperate. Jennings and Lions WR Jameson Williams are available and have practiced this week. But both have boom/bust capabilities. First for Jennings, he faces the leaky Tampa Bay defense that’s allowed the most fantasy points in the league to wide receivers. And with Jameson it’s a pure gamble if he can catch two deep balls and hopefully get in the endzone on one. But if you’re desperate for that last flex…
Sit ’em – Calvin Ridley

Calvin Ridley – I hate sitting Ridley because he’s been solid the last couple weeks, but there are a couple factors at work. First, there’s the real possibility Will Levis returns as the starter. If so, forget about it. Ridley has only enjoyed success when Mason Rudolph is at the helm. And secondly, the Chargers defense is more than solid. They’re a top 10 fantasy defense against the pass this season. There’s just a lot working against Ridley this week.
Tight End
Start ’em – Dalton Kincaid

Dalton Kincaid – If you’re playing the weekly matchups with your TE then Kincaid might be one to consider. The Bills are in Indy where the Colts are bottom five in the league against TE and he’s coming off a 10-target performance against Miami last week. I still think he’s going to be TD dependent, but it is a solid matchup.
Sit ’em – Dalton Schultz

Dalton Schultz – I almost apologize for even mentioning Schultz. In theory he should have a chance at fantasy relevance, but it just has not happened this season. He has no TD and no double-digit weeks. Plus, Nico Collins should return, and the Lions are a tough matchup for TE’s.
Defense
Start ’em – Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles – Much like the TE position, if you’re playing the matchups every week then Philly might not be a bad one to consider. It doesn’t get much better than visiting a Cowboys team without Dak, a limited CeeDee, and a roster than has been flailing for over a month. Not to mention the ‘Boys are winless at home this season. Dial it up against Cooper Rush.
Sit ’em – Denver Broncos

Broncos – After last week’s debacle in Baltimore I’m going to “cool it” on the Broncos this week. And it seems the Chiefs have found their offensive punch the last two weeks, especially after the addition of DeAndre Hopkins.
