The Colts take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football, a game that was flexed into the primetime spot a couple of weeks ago.  Fast-forward to the Friday before the game and a lot has happened on the Colts side of things.  The team has won four of it’s last six games, but both losses were to division opponents, including a second loss to the Houston Texans this year.  On top of that, Anthony Richardson tapped on his helmet in the middle of the game because he was tired and then a couple of days later the Colts announced they were benching the fourth overall pick in favor of 39-year old Joe Flacco.

It’s been one of the more chaotic weeks in recent Colts’ memories and now they’ll be in the national spotlight to take on a Minnesota Vikings squad that has had a strong season despite having some key injuries early in the season.  On Friday’s edition of The Wake Up Call with KB & Andy, former Colts head coach and current Sunday Night Football analyst Tony Dungy joined us to discuss his thoughts on the Richardson benching, why he thinks it could be beneficial and how the Colts come out of Sunday night with a win.

This is not the end of his career.  He’s going to be fine, but I do think this is a good move at this time.  Especially, going against this team.  If you were contemplating this move going against this Minnesota defense it is the time to have Joe Flacco in the lineup – Tony Dungy on the decision to bench Anthony Richardson

Dungy also discussed the Richardson tap out, a quarterback decision when he coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that mirrors the Colts situation with Richardson and Flacco, the induction of Dallas Clark into the Ring of Honor and a whole lot more!  For the full interview, click the link below!

You look at the completion percentage, you look at the plays that are there that Shane [Steichen] thinks Joe [Flacco] would make and that’s the difference. And that’s what they based the decision on.  – Tony Dungy on if the tap out had any effect on the benching of Anthony Richardson
