The Indianapolis Colts are about to go through the gauntlet.

After a mixed bag of an opening slate, the real meat of the schedule is about to begin. First up, another showdown with C.J Stroud and the Texans. Then, the Minnestoa Vikings, who just lost their first game of the year in a thriller with the Lions, then Josh Allen and the Bills, Aaron Rodgers and the Jets, and finally the aforementioned Lions, who despite the loss of Aidan Hutchinson remain one of the best teams in the league.

While one could argue that the Colts should have at least one more win than they do, sitting at 4-3 at this point of the season isn’t a terrible spot to be in. They’re still very much in both the playoff and even in the divisional race, making this upcoming game against the Texans all the more important. Realistically speaking however, the Colts figure to be underdogs in most, if not all, of these next 5 games.

So how many of these upcoming games do they need to steal to stay alive in the hunt for a playoff spot?

During the Tuesday edition of The Ride With JMV, Greg Rakestraw from the Colts Fifth Quarter Huddle joined the show and answered that very question.

“Ten [wins] gets you in [the playoffs], because the back half of the playoff bubble is not very good in the AFC, shoot nine may get you in…I think if the Colts are 6-6 going into December, they very much have a good shot of being a playoff team, because when you finish with the Patriots, the Broncos, the Titans, the Giants, and the Jaguars, there’s a lot of meat on that bone from December 1st on. If they can find a way to get a couple of these games, I think they’re in good shape.”
