The Indianapolis Colts got a much-needed win over their divisional foe in the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, coming out on top 20-17.

2nd-year receiver Josh Downs once again made a big impact on the field for the Colts, making 7 catches for 66 yards and a receiving touchdown, while also adding 67 yards in punt returns. Downs was essential on third down, repeatedly moving the chains and proving once again that he’s a reliable option for quarterback Joe Flacco.

During the Monday edition of The Ride With JMV, Downs joined the program, and gave some insight into getting on the same page with the Colts backup quarterback.

“Joe makes our position easier. He came in there prepared, so at the end of the day he made the correct reads, and he trusted us with the ball, so there wasn’t too much acclimating to do.”

Downs’ fellow receiver Michael Pittman Jr surprisingly played against the Titans, after reports that he was dealing with back injury and could end up on IR. Downs spoke about how impactful it was to see his teammate fight through the pain and come up big when the team needed him most.

“It brings the room together even more, because we’re like a family in the receiving room, so him being on that field it helps even more. He’s an excellent playmaker, so it just adds another weapon to our offense. Very tough guy and sets the tone in terms of that as well. We had a lot of guys playing banged up last week, and just to see everybody really push through, and then we get a division dub, it just shows how tough the team really is.”
