Heart & Hustle: A Night of Female Sports Excellence – (RECAP)
Last night, the Indiana Convention Center’s Wabash Ballroom #3 was alive with energy, inspiration, and celebration as Heart & Hustle: A Night of Female Sports Excellence brought together Indiana’s sports community to honor women who exemplify passion, perseverance, and leadership. The event, hosted by Radio One in partnership with Franciscan Health, was a spectacular evening that left attendees inspired and energized.
The evening kicked off with a vibrant red carpet arrival, complete with a step-and-repeat photo booth and a buzzing networking session. Guests mingled over charcuterie, cocktails, and a wellness activation by Franciscan Health, all while enjoying the upbeat ambiance set by DJ Kenny Kixx. The silent auction, featuring exclusive items like Colts tickets and luxury gift cards, added an exciting layer to the festivities.
The program officially began with a high-energy live performance by Deaon Forever, setting the tone for an unforgettable night. Karen Vaughn, BSwift, and Jake Query welcomed the audience with heartfelt remarks, followed by a moving video tribute from Franciscan Health. The highlight of the evening was the panel discussion, Heart & Hustle in Indiana Sports, featuring Katie Douglas-Poe, Larra Overton, and Julie Roe Lach, who shared their inspiring journeys and insights into the impact of women in sports.
A standout moment was the presentation of the Heart & Hustle Awards, honoring trailblazers like Katie Douglas-Poe, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, Kalen Jackson, and Julie Roe Lach. Congressman André Carson’s Congressional Record recognition of Katie Douglas-Poe added a historic touch, cementing her legacy in Indiana’s sports history.
The evening concluded with a celebratory toast led by Squeezed Juice and Franciscan Health, followed by more networking, photo opportunities, and the announcement of silent auction winners. The event was a true testament to the power of community, collaboration, and the indomitable spirit of women in sports.
As Indianapolis prepares to host the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, Heart & Hustle served as a perfect prelude, showcasing the city’s commitment to celebrating excellence and inspiring the next generation of leaders. It was a night to remember, filled with heart, hustle, and unforgettable moments.
