INDIANAPOLIS – In an offseason unlike on we’ve seen under Chris Ballard, the Colts roster has changed a lot since the end of the 2024 campaign.
Currently, the Colts have 90 players on a roster with rookie minicamp starting later this week.
Here is the current position-by-position breakdown of the Colts roster:
1. Quarterbacks (4): Jason Bean, Daniel Jones, Riley Leonard*, Anthony Richardson

Quarterbacks (4): Jason Bean, Daniel Jones, Riley Leonard*, Anthony Richardson
Bowen’s Analysis: While the quarterback competition between Richardson and Jones will understandably dominate the off-season reps, don’t sleep on Leonard vs. Bean, although reps for that one will be limited.
2. Running Backs (5) Salvon Ahmed, DJ Giddens*, Tyler Goodson, Khalil Herbert, Jonathan Taylor

Running Backs (6) Salvon Ahmed, DJ Giddens*, Tyler Goodson, Khalil Herbert, Jonathan Taylor, Ulysses Bentley*
Bowen’s Analysis: Do you keep 3 or 4 here? Giddens will have a great chance for a rotational role after being chosen in Round 5.
3. Wide Receivers (13) Ajou Ajou, Josh Downs, Ashton Dulin, Anthony Gould, Tyler Kahmann*, Adonai Mitchell, D.J. Montgomery, Coleman Owen*, Landon Parker*, Alec Pierce, Michael Pittman Jr., Blayne Taylor*, Laquon Treadwell

Wide Receivers (13) Ajou Ajou, Josh Downs, Ashton Dulin, Anthony Gould, Tyler Kahmann*, Adonai Mitchell, D.J. Montgomery, Coleman Owen*, Landon Parker*, Alec Pierce, Michael Pittman Jr., Blayne Taylor*, Laquon Treadwell
Bowen’s Analysis: This is probably the best the wideout position has looked a while for the Colts. After not drafting a wideout, the Colts added several undrafted free agents at that position.
4. Tight Ends (8): Mo Alie-Cox, Will Mallory, Maximilian Gang*, Sean McKeon, Drew Ogletree, Albert Okwuegbunam, Tyler Warren*, Jelani Woods

Tight Ends (8): Mo Alie-Cox, Will Mallory, Maximilian Gang*, Sean McKeon, Drew Ogletree, Albert Okwuegbunam, Tyler Warren*, Jelani Woods
Bowen’s Analysis: With Kylen Granson in Philly, the Colts need to replace 430 snaps of his from last season. Certainly, Tyler Warren will eat up all of it, and probably some from others.
5. Offensive Line (14): Tanor Bortolini, Marshall Foerner*, Blake Freeland, Wesley French, Matt Goncalves, Quenton Nelson, Danny Pinter, Bernard Raimann, Josh Sills, Braden Smith, Luke Tenuta, Jalen Travis*, Dalton Tucker, Jack Wilson

Offensive Line (14): Tanor Bortolini, Marshall Foerner*, Blake Freeland, Wesley French, Matt Goncalves, Quenton Nelson, Danny Pinter, Bernard Raimann, Josh Sills, Braden Smith, Luke Tenuta, Jalen Travis*, Dalton Tucker, Jack Wilson
Bowen’s Analysis: From a pure numbers standpoint, the Colts are just fine along the offensive line. Will they add a free agent though to compete for the right guard spot and/or bolster those key depth spots?
6. Defensive Line (15): Adetomiwa Adebawore, DeForest Buckner, Devonta Davis*, Samson Ebukam, Joe Evans*, Neville Gallimore, Isaiah Land, Laiatu Latu, Tyquan Lewis, Desmond Little*, Durell Nchami, Kwity Paye, Tim Smith*, Grover Stewart, JT Tuimoloau*

Defensive Line (15): Adetomiwa Adebawore, DeForest Buckner, Devonta Davis*, Samson Ebukam, Joe Evans*, Neville Gallimore, Isaiah Land, Laiatu Latu, Tyquan Lewis, Desmond Little*, Durell Nchami, Kwity Paye, Tim Smith*, Grover Stewart, JT Tuimoloau*
Bowen’s Analysis: As expected, the Colts added a defensive lineman early in the draft. Under Chris Ballard, this has always been a position where a somewhat notable resume gets the scissors.
7. Linebackers (9): Austin Ajake, Liam Anderson, Jaylon Carlies, Solomon DeShields*, Zaire Franklin, Cameron McGrone, Segun Olubi, Jacob Phillips, Hunter Wohler*

Linebackers (9): Austin Ajake, Liam Anderson, Jaylon Carlies, Solomon DeShields*, Zaire Franklin, Cameron McGrone, Segun Olubi, Jacob Phillips, Hunter Wohler*
Bowen’s Analysis: Some new names at linebacker will have to emerge with E.J. Speed (Texans) and Grant Stuard (Lions) departing, leaving 20 starts and 1,239 snaps from last season.
8. Cornerbacks (10): Corey Ballentine, JuJu Brents, Johnathan Edwards*, Alex Johnson, Jaylon Jones, David Long Jr., Kenny Moore II, Justin Walley, Charvarius Ward, Samuel Womack III

Cornerbacks (10): Corey Ballentine, JuJu Brents, Johnathan Edwards*, Alex Johnson, Jaylon Jones, David Long Jr., Kenny Moore II, Justin Walley, Charvarius Ward, Samuel Womack III
Bowen’s Analysis: The Colts haven’t lost really anything at all from last year’s cornerback group, but made the big splash with Charvarius Ward and drafting Justin Walley in Round 3.
9. Safeties (7): Cam Bynum, Nick Cross, Marcel Dabo, Daniel Scott, Ladarius Tennison*, Rodney Thomas II, Trey Washington*

Safeties (7): Cam Bynum, Nick Cross, Marcel Dabo, Daniel Scott, Ladarius Tennison*, Rodney Thomas II, Trey Washington*
Bowen’s Analysis: This position could use another depth body. The Colts didn’t touch it in the draft, which is good news for Washington, a productive, yet undersized, SEC safety.
10. Specialists (4): LS-Luke Rhodes, P-Rigoberto Sanchez, K-Spencer Shrader, Maddux Trujillo*

Specialists (4): LS-Luke Rhodes, P-Rigoberto Sanchez, K-Spencer Shrader, Maddux Trujillo*
Bowen’s Analysis: Well, the Colts have some decisions to make in the placekicking department after cutting Matt Gay. Is this a kicking competition of undrafted guys in Shrader (UDFA in 2024) and Trujillo (UDFA in 2025).
