Fox Corporation Acquires One-Third Stake in Penske Entertainment
Fox Corporation has announced its acquisition of a one-third interest in Penske Entertainment, the parent company of the NTT IndyCar Series and the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
This strategic investment, revealed on July 31, 2025, marks a significant step in the growth and promotion of North America’s premier open-wheel racing series.
The partnership includes a multiyear extension of IndyCar’s media rights with FOX Sports, which has already brought a surge in viewership.
The 2025 Indianapolis 500, broadcast on FOX, drew an average of 7.01 million viewers—a 41% increase from the previous year and the highest in 17 years.
Overall, the IndyCar Series has seen a 31% year-over-year rise in viewership this season.
Roger Penske, Chairman of Penske Entertainment, emphasized the shared vision between the two organizations, stating, “FOX sees the incredible potential across our sport and wants to play an active role in building our growth trajectory.”
FOX Sports CEO Eric Shanks echoed this sentiment, highlighting IndyCar’s passionate fanbase, iconic venues, and year-round storytelling potential.
The investment aims to enhance the series through innovative events, a robust digital strategy, and increased promotion of drivers.
With rising attendance, record crowds, and new initiatives like a 2026 race in Arlington, Texas, this partnership is set to elevate IndyCar to new heights.
