The Pacers get ready to open their Eastern Conference Finals series with the New York Knicks on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden and head coach Rick Carlisle joined us ahead of the series opener. Carlisle discussed a ton of topics with us, including what’s different from last year’s Knicks squad from the one they’ll be facing this year.

“They’ve got [Jalen] Brunson and [Josh] Hart, which is similar to last year. And it’s different because they have [Mikal] Bridges and [Karl-Anthony] Towns. They’ve made some pretty significant upgrades to their roster, which is going to make it very, very challenging.” – Rick Carlisle on last year’s Knicks team to the one they face starting Wednesday

Carlisle also discussed why opposing teams seem to play more zone defense against them, his memories from Reggie Miller’s final game as a Pacer and coaching Jalen Brunson when he was with the Dallas Mavericks.

“I am not shocked at all in what he’s done. He welcomes doubters and naysayers. He’s built his career on proving people wrong. The guy’s a winner.” – Rick Carlisle on Jalen Brunson
