Colts Hire New Defensive Coordinator

The Indianapolis Colts have found their new defensive coordinator, hiring Lou Anarumo to take over the defense.

This decision comes after the team parted ways with former coordinator Gus Bradley following another disappointing season.

Anarumo brings a wealth of experience to the table and is expected to provide a more aggressive approach to the Colts’ defensive scheme.

Anarumo previously served as the defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2019 to 2024.

During his tenure, he helped the Bengals deliver notable performances, including a 2022 campaign where the team ranked fifth in scoring defense and a Super Bowl appearance in the 2021 season.

Despite this early success, the Bengals defense struggled in recent years, ranking 25th in scoring during the 2024 season, which ultimately led to his dismissal.

Known for his secondary coaching expertise, Anarumo has been acknowledged as a strong tactician and motivator.

His hiring aligns with Colts General Manager Chris Ballard‘s focus on improving the defensive backfield, a key area of concern for the team going into the offseason.

Under Anarumo, the Colts intend to adopt a more assertive and dynamic defensive strategy, a shift from Bradley’s system.

The decision to hire Anarumo reflects the Colts’ desire for a defensive resurgence after a challenging season.

Anarumo’s ability to spark a turnaround will undoubtedly play a crucial role in determining the direction of the Colts franchise as it aims to return to playoff contention.
