There is drama down in Bloomington.  Something former Hoosiers head coach Tom Crean is familiar with.  The drama these days may be reaching a fever pitch though, as fans are voicing their displeasure with head coach Mike Woodson and the team he’s assembled thus far in the season.  The Hoosiers are 13-5 but have gotten their doors blown off in all of those losses.  The most recent ones being back-to-back blowouts in conference play to Iowa and Illinois.

“Fire Woodson!” chants were echoing throughout Assembly Hall as the Hoosiers got throttled at home to Illinois 94-69 earlier this week.  The team looks disjointed and disinterested and being in the heart of conference play doesn’t bode well for a team that desperately needs to find itself quickly.

Crean, who is now an analyst at ESPN, joined us Thursday morning to discuss what he’s seen from Mike Woodson’s team from afar, what he thinks the issues are and how they could get fixed.

They’ve got to get an identity when it comes to rebounding.  It comes down to effort.  Most of the games I watch, the lack of hitting, physicality and awareness…all that plays into it. – Former Indiana Hoosiers head coach Tom Crean on issues he sees on the current Hoosiers team

Meanwhile, former Hoosiers center Thomas Bryant has found his way back to Indiana when he was acquired via trade by the Indiana Pacers.  Bryant has latched on and been a boost for the Pacers and his former coach says that’s not by accident.

He’s so happy to be [on the Pacers].  You’re not entitled to an opportunity in the NBA.  Thomas has had to work his way up to the league.  He’s been through so much.  What you saw in Indiana is now a more mature and older version of that for the Pacers.  He’s got infectious energy. – Tom Crean on his former player and current Pacer Thomas Bryant
