Brian Windhorst of ESPN joins The Ride with JMV to discuss how he feels the Lakers look going into next season and how he feels about the crazy year in regards to free agency. Brian also talks about how he feels about the Pacers and whether or not Malcolm Brogdon was the right choice for the Pacers.
“After what has transpired the last two or three weeks, what do you feel about the Lakers?”
“A lot of people are reacting to what Anthony Davis said about give us any seven game series. I’d agree with that view point. I mean if you have a Lebron team and Lebron is right, you’ve got a chance. That’s an under dog’s mentality. When they traded for Anthony Davis and signed Lebron they didn’t think they would be an under dog in any way shape or form. We can’t predict the health and how things come together but the Lakers are not a favorite to win the West and much less the championship. They’re not going to have a lot of opportunity to improve this roster because they can’t trade future picks. The assets that they have to trade are really the guys that they have right now.”
“Has this been the craziest month in NBA history in terms of free agency and the draft?”
“I think we’ve seen six all NBA players change teams. Really Anthony Davis should’ve been an all NBA player but he got punished for his trade demands and didn’t play all of those games. So really seven of the top fifteen players all switched teams. There’s not as much shock value for us because a lot of times we have a good feeling that a transaction is going to happen.”
