Injury expert Will Carroll joins The Fan Morning Show with Jeff and Big Joe

Injury expert Mike Carroll joins the show to discuss injuries in professional sports. Jeff and Big Joe ask Mike about Andrew Luck’s injury and whether or not Colts’ fans should be worried. Will also talks about how the real story is the mistrust between Andrew and the Colts’ medical staff. Jeff and Big Joe also ask Will if there are any similarities between Andrew’s injury and Kevin Durant’s and whether or not a calf injury can turn into an Achilles.
“What do you think is happening with Andrew Luck? What is your best educated guess?”
“Talking to people and listening to what Andrew is actually saying I think there are a couple of things we can actually take away from this. The first is that I don’t think the injury itself is that serious. What is lingering is a lack of trust between Andrew slash Andrew’s people, it’s not like he comes with a giant posse but there are people he listens to and trusts, and on the other side is the medical staff. You would’ve thought the Colts would’ve gotten instantly better when Luck returned last season but no. For the last decade plus they have been I think no better than twenty six. It is something they haven’t changed. You have the worst defense for the last decade. I guarantee you would have a new defensive coordinator but Jim Ursay hasn’t made a lot of changes over there.”
“What happened with Kevin Durant and is there any similarity between him and Andrew? Is there any possibility of a calf injury turning into something with an Achilles?”
“There’s a possibility, I mean we all saw it, but no. They’re both calf strains. Durant’s was a one in a million injury. We’ve never seen that before. The Warriors’ medical staff didn’t see that happening. Durant’s medical staff and doctors didn’t see that happening but it did happen. So is it possible? Absolutely. Is it likely? No. They don’t put the same kind of demands on their body. Luck and Durant are both great athletes but they are very different athletes with different skill sets.”
