INDIANAPOLIS–Poor shooting doomed the Indiana Hoosier men’s basketball on Thursday as they were eliminated by the Oregon Ducks in the Big Ten Tournament at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis 72-59.

Oregon closed the first half on a 13-2 run over a period of four minutes to lead 37-29. Indiana cut the deficit down to two several times in the second half, but couldn’t take the lead. Their last lead in the game was 29-27 with 2:45 left in the first half.

Indiana shot 36% from the field while Oregon made 49% of their shots. Indiana was 10 of 23 on layups. The Hoosiers also closed the game making just 2 of their final 11 shots.

Jackson Shelstad led Oregon in scoring with 18 points.  Malik Reneau was Indiana’s leading scorer at 19 points. Trey Galloway had 15 points and Mackenzie Mgbako was Indiana’s other double figure scorer at 12 points.

Oregon (24-8) advances to play Michigan State in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinal. It’s their 8th straight win.

Indiana (19-13) now waits to see what the NCAA Selection Committee decides on Selection Sunday.
