INDIANAPOLIS Per usual, the Colts were quiet at the NFL trade deadline.

No buying. No selling. No deals for the 7th trade deadline in 8 years under Chris Ballard.

And, yes, that includes the Colts keeping Anthony Richardson, despite his benching last week.

With Tuesday’s deadline passing, the 2024 Colts continue to operate in one of the quietest transactional years in the Ballard era.

Ballard is never one for much roster upheaval, but he also is one that is adamant about roster building being a 12-month process.

In 2024 though, the calendar hasn’t mattered in seeking out potential upgrades.

The Colts have been bullish in relying on their in-house guys throughout this year.

Under Ballard, the Colts have only executed one in-season trade. That was in the 2022, sending Nyheim Hines to the Bills for Zack Moss and a Day 3 draft pick.

The Colts sit at 4-5 just past the mid-way point of the 2024 season.

They are currently 2 full games behind the Texans in the AFC South, while also losing the head-to-head tiebreaker, meaning they’ll have to finish 3 games better than Houston the rest of the year (i.e. Colts go 6-2, Texans go 3-5) to win their first divisional title since 2014.

With a 4-5 mark, the Colts are tied for 8th in the AFC playoff picture with the Cincinnati Bengals. They are 1 game behind the Denver Broncos (5-4) for the final Wild Card spot.

Unless a late-season extension happens, the following notable Colts are scheduled to hit free agency in the spring of 2025:

QB-Joe Flacco (Age: 39), RB-Trey Sermon (Age: 25), WR-Ashton Dulin (Age: 27), TE-Mo Alie-Cox (Age: 31), TE-Kylen Granson (Age: 26), C-Ryan Kelly (Age: 31), DL-Dayo Odeyingbo (Age: 25), LB-E.J. Speed (Age: 29), S-Julian Blackmon (Age: 26).

The Colts will return to practice on Wednesday, hosting the Buffalo Bills this Sunday afternoon.
