INDIANAPOLISIt’s time for the Colts to take the next step towards having full practices.

After only strength and conditioning, along with team meetings, on the schedule last week, this week allows for the Colts to get on the field with helmets.

Beginning Wednesday, practices can occur in a non-padded manner, and that will last through Sunday. Full-padded practices begin next Monday (August 17th).

So we are getting closer and closer to the most important part of training camp in 2020, and eventually cutting down to a 53-man roster (with a projection having not changed too much since the draft).

What that means is the Colts have decided to get their roster down to 80 players, which is an NFL mandate this year due to COVID. Currently, the Colts roster is at 78 players, because the 2 guys on the reserve/COVID-19 list (WR-Malik Henry and CB-Jackson Porter) do not count against the 90-man roster.

Julian Blackmon and T.Y. Hilton are both on the active/non-football injury list. Mo Alie-Cox and Kemoko Turay are both on the active/physically unable to perform list. Those 4 guys currently count against the 90-man roster.

Here is a look at the current roster, including the names above (current number at that position, how many players were kept at that position last season):
