The 2020 NFL Draft might see five quarterbacks taken in the first round alone.

It’s the NFL, and teams want quarterbacks.

That part you know. But what you might not know about is the actual prospects themselves.

The Athletic’s Stephen Holder joined Jeff & Big Joe on The Fan Morning Show on Wednesday to give his thoughts from the Senior Bowl on some of the potential quarterbacks of the Colts future.

“Justin Herbert. I think he’s the next guy in order,” Holder told Jeff & Big Joe.

“I don’t know what his ceiling is, but I think he’s a guy who can play right now, and he looks really polished. He can make all the throws, and he looks the part. I mean the eye test, you know? Sometimes I’m not saying it’s the only test. It certainly isn’t, but he passes the eye test. So I think Justin Herbert is next.”

When he says “next” he was referring to the fact that there’s no way the Colts snag the likely number one pick, Joe Burrow, or Tua if his medicals clear leading up to the draft.

So, when talking about what he saw at the Senior Bowl last week, and predicting who would be drafting next, Holder thinks Herbert over Love.

But don’t worry, Jordan Love isn’t too far behind.

“Then I think it’s Jordan Love. The question with Jordan Love is  you have to decide whether you can live with all the Jordan Love comes with because it’s complicated. His ceiling is possibly higher – probably higher than Herbert’s. But I think there’s a bust factor there. That doesn’t mean he’s going to be a bust. I’m not saying that. I think he could be a very good player. But I’m saying if Jordan Love turned out to be a bust, I don’t think that would shock people.”

Ooof. That last line will definitely scare Colts fans.

Holder made it clear to the guys that he wasn’t predicting for Love to turn out that way by any means. He said basically if Chris Ballard and Frank Reich have done their research and like Love then go ahead. Chuck it deep. See if you score.

“Is it (drafting Jordan Love) worth the chance? Of course. If you believe in him and if you’ve scouted him and if you’ve done the work and you’re sold then yeah, draft that kid.”
