The start of the week before Christmas definitely shook some feathers around Central Indiana in the High School sports world.

Here’s why.

Woah.

Center Grove, back-to-back 6A Football State Champion, and Carmel, the defending 4A State Basketball Champs, are both going to have a new home. They won’t end up moving far from each other though.

Do we have a new super conference on our hands? We just may. The big question for me is how this is going to potentially impact what we see on Thanksgiving weekend for years to come.

Quite frankly Center Grove has power walked their way to back-to-back rings. That’s not taking away from what Eric Moore and his staff has done. But in a conference featuring now CG, Carmel, HSE, Fishers, Franklin Central, Zionsville, Brownsburg, Avon, Noblesville, and Westfield (the team that the Trojans have beaten at Lucas Oil Stadium two years in a row), whose time to shine is next?

Carmel’s dominance in MIC athletics has been a staple for years. This is about to get really interesting.

When The Fan airs HCC games as our Friday Night Football Game of the Week next season, that’s going to be must listen radio.
