On Wednesday’s edition of Kevin & Query, the guys got a phone call from a listener named Nick who asked if the Colts organization had become complacent in their status in the NFL.  The guys debated the topic, including the expectations from ownership and if there is a sense of urgency, or in fact, complacency.

When it comes to owner Jim Irsay he certainly says a lot on Twitter about multiple Lombardi’s and what not but he also shows loyalty to those he trusts.  GM Chris Ballard definitely falls into that category even though he has had some questionable draft selections, went into the season without a legit left tackle despite knowing Anthony Castonzo gave him two years notice that he was contemplating retirement, among other things.

“[Chris Ballard] has been given a longer leash than his predecessors. It feels like you could go another five years without playoffs and they would say “Well, there’s a plan.” – Jake Query

The question also turned to the contract extensions handed out to Ballard and head coach Frank Reich during training camp, which caught plenty of people off guard given the lack of postseason success.

“In no way, shape or form would average to slightly above average employees in a normal business be getting that significant of raises.” – Kevin Bowen
