The MLB Home Run Derby takes place in our nation’s capital next Monday, and two Cubs will be represented in it.

It was reported on Tuesday night that both Javier Baez and former Indiana star Kyle Schwarber will participate in the Derby to get All-Star week started in D.C.

“It’s going to be fun, especially with Javy in there, too,” Schwarber said Tuesday night. “I know what kind of (batting practice) that guy takes.”

“It’s on the bucket list,” Schwarber said. “It’s one of those things you grow up watching (Ken) Griffey and (Mark) McGwire. Now that I can do it, it’s a thing you want to do at least once.”

Schwarber and Baez lead the Cubs in home runs so far in 2018 with both knocking out 17 thus far.

Chicago is currently second in the National League Central trailing the Milwaukee Brewers by 1.5 games.
