7 three pointers. 30 points. What a start to the season for Carsen Edwards as he led Purdue to a 1-0 start defeating Fairfield 90-57 at Mackey Arena.

The preseason All-American was the star of the show from the jump.

“The main important thing is just doing my job, doing the things he (head coach Matt Painter) tells me to do,” Edwards said to purduesports.com following the game. . “We have skill guys around me that can shoot the ball and can get to the rim and get baskets. I’m just going to continue doing my job.”

Grady Eifert had himself a solid opener as well, adding 9 points and collecting 10 rebounds.

Purdue will be off until Saturday when they welcome Ball State to West Lafayette for an in-state battle to start the season.
