Simon Pagenaud is the winner of the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 and no one was closer to the action then radio announcer, Mark Jaynes. Mark takes some time with JMV to break down the race, the decision to wave the red flag, and the gift that mother nature gave to race fans!

On the decision to wave the red flag:

“I know this. Regardless of whether it helped him or not [Simon Pagenaud&#93, it helped all of us enjoy one heck of a finish. In that regard, I’m happy about it. I don’t know that the finish is that compelling if that red doesn’t happen and then the subsequent yellows. It’s certainly a discussion to have, but I’m not going to pick that apart too much.”

On the potential of Rossi to win the race at the end:

“One of the things that Kyle Moyer talked about when we interviewed him late in the race, he said ‘Because of the difference in the fuel mileage, guys were reluctant to run out front.’ But they went ahead and did that and wondered if it was eventually going to pay off for them and it did. Simon was strong when it counted. But when Rossi made the pass with a few laps to go, I thought it was gone after that.”

While the race is over, 1070 The Fan is not done giving you the latest IndyCar news, interviews, and analysis all throughout the year!
