Aliyah Boston Got Her Own Day In Boston And Announced Investment In Boston Legacy FC
Indiana Fever and WNBA All-Star Aliyah Boston, who is also a Massachusetts basketball legend, was honored yesterday with her own day in Boston, marking a significant milestone in her already illustrious career.
On July 14, Boston, a three-time WNBA All-Star and former Worcester Academy standout, was celebrated at the Massachusetts Statehouse, where Governor Maura Healey and city officials recognized her contributions to sports and her inspirational journey.
Boston, who was named Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year three times during her high school career, has continued to shine on the national stage.
After a stellar college career at the University of South Carolina, she was the first overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft and has since become a cornerstone player for the Indiana Fever.
Her return to Boston coincided with the Fever’s game against the Connecticut Sun at TD Garden, adding to the excitement of the occasion.
In addition to the honor, Boston announced her investment in Boston Legacy FC, the city’s new NWSL expansion team.
Joining a star-studded ownership group that includes Aly Raisman and Elizabeth Banks, Boston expressed her pride in contributing to the growth of women’s sports in a city that played a pivotal role in her development.
“This city helped raise me,” Boston said, emphasizing her commitment to fostering opportunities for future generations.
During the ceremony, Boston shared an inspiring message with young fans, encouraging them to dream big and embrace their unique paths.
Governor Healey praised Boston as a role model, highlighting her impact on both women and men in sports.
