Friend of the show Mike Wells joins The Fan Morning Show with Jeff and Big Joe to talk about the Colts’ first preseason game against the Bills. Jeff and Big Joe ask Wells what he wants to see out of the Colts while he is watching the game tonight. Mike Wells goes into the fact that he would like to see Jacoby Brissett because he feels that the longer Luck remains out the more the Colts need to know that they can trust their backup quarterback.
“What do you want to see when you are watching the game tonight?”
“I really want to see Jacoby Brissett. People are like, Wells why the hell do you want to see Jacoby Brissett? He’s the backup quarterback. The longer Andrew Luck stays out the more I have to make sure I know as much as I can about Jacoby Brissett and see what he can give the Colts. If for some odd reason this calf lingers on for Andrew Luck for a while.”
“I’m looking for improvement from Jacoby Brissett from 2017 but I’m also looking for a guy that can get into rhythm quick.”
“Yea he’s got to. The reality is they can say that they think Andrew Luck will be fine. Andrew Luck can tell Peter King that he will be ready by week one. Andrew Luck hasn’t even been taking part in team drills yet. I mean he’s done seven on seven. I need to see him full go out there. You have to believe that if he returns to practice this weekend he won’t be doing much against the Cleveland Browns when there’s a possibility of defensive lineman, they’re not going to hit the quarterback but somebody comes flying at him and he has to move out of the way giving him a chance to aggravate the calf.”
