ESPN Analyst and former Colts QB Dan Orlovsky joined JMV to get a former QB’s reaction to Andrew Luck retiring, why he saw a similar face in Luck as he saw in Calvin Johnson in Detroit at the end of his career, why he doesn’t think Luck is retired for good, and why the Colts will still make the playoffs with Jacoby Brissett under center.

JMV: “I think it’s a 50/50 proposition that this guy (Andrew Luck) wants to come back next year. That’s just me, as a former player, how do you feel about it?”

Dan Orlovsky: “Ya I would be more surprised if he didn’t come back than if he did come back. Two reasons: 1. He’s going to have a long period of time here where he’s going to feel really good, he’s going to feel really healthy. He has not experienced this since he was 8 years old, of his body during this time of year not getting beat up. 2. Don’t forget, a good majority of the beating that Andrew Luck took was before the rules have been changed. Before the Quarterbacks are protected in the manner they are now. So I’ve got to imagine that he’s going to sit back a year from now feeling really good and go ‘man quarterbacks aren’t getting hit like I used to get hit’ and maybe think ‘alright, the abuse isn’t what it used to be and I can learn from guys like a Brady or a Brees who no longer have to carry the badge of being the tough guy on the team’. So I can see him getting that itch to play again and that competitive drive to play again, sure.”
