Dustin and Drew Keller join JMV in the studio to discuss their businesses, family, their new BBQ place, and Dustin reflects on his NFL career, his injury, tight ends in the game now, Purdue football, and being inducted into the Indiana hall of fame.

Dustin on his career ending injury:

“One hit and that was my last snap in the NFL. It was a preseason game and being a starter, that was probably the last series, maybe the last play I would have played so obviously you look at all the things like that when it happens to you. But you know, everything happens for a reason. That kind of jump started me to start my business side a little bit earlier and things are good man, things are going well.”

On how many years he thought he had left:

“Everyone thinks they are going to play forever. I think the key number for most guys, they think they will play for ten years. I thought I would pull off 10-12, that was my sixth season. I thought I had a lot of football left in me and in the blink of an eye it was over.”

On their new BBQ place:

“The thing that right now we are kind of just getting started, we have been open for three months, I found a buddy of mine that worked for a really good restaurant group MMH, in Austin, Texas. My favorite restaurant group and he wasn’t working there any more so I kind of pitched to him, what do you think about doing something in Indianapolis. He was like ‘well, it’s cold, and I have never been around snow before.’ I said ‘oh, we are gonna figure this out.’ He had a friend that was a pit master there. I didn’t really know if I wanted to invest in that but we had some friends over and he stayed up all night smoking meat for us and we were SOLD. This guy is ridiculous. His name is Alex George. He is the pit master for the restaurant, it’s called Old Gold Barbeque…””We are at 140 South College and we are open from Wednesday through Sunday from 11AM-until we are sold out because we do sell out. People are catching on and people are going crazy.”
