Derrick Dietrich of the Cincinnati Reds joins The Ride with JMV to talk about the season. Derrick Dietrich is a second basemen that talks about hopefully being able to particiapte in the all star game festivities in his home town of Cleveland, Ohio. Dietrich talks about the Reds allowing him to be himself and play good, clean baseball.

“What has been the power surge for you being in Miami and transitioning over to Cincinnati?”

“You pretty much hit it right there. The comfort, you know, the lineup that we have, the coaches that we have, and just all the guys in general man. It’s been such a blessing and it’s been so much fun to come to the park and prepare and get ready to go to battle with these guys. Really I have just been comfortable being myself and going out and playing. Not a lot has changed from my swing stand point or what I’ve really tried to do over the course of my career it has just been working a lot better in Cincinnati.”

“It seems like you were unleashed when you got to Cincinnati. Is that a good way to describe it?”

“I guess you could say it like that. For everybody, not just myself, they just let you be yourself and go out there and do what you’re comfortable doing and play the game hard. That comes from our manager, David Bell, whose the best manager I’ve ever had. He communicates so well and he’s got each and every one of these guys’ backs. Not just in the lineup or in the clubhouse but everyone in this organization. It makes doing your job that much easier.”
