Ah the age old question of is a game a must win?

Believe it or not, it’s a question/cliché that’s been around even longer than the Colts 8 year losing streak in Jacksonville.

All jokes aside, there can be a strong case made that Sunday’s game against Jacksonville is a MUST WIN for the Frank Reich iteration of the Indianapolis Colts.

After last season’s loss in Jacksonville to close the season, Colts owner Jim Irsay had a rare postgame meeting with Coach Reich and general manager Chris Ballard.

Irsay was frustrated with the lackluster performance and presumably set expectations for where he wants the franchise to be moving forward.

One would think that would mean taking care of business against inferior competition. Even though the Colts tied with Houston last week, I’d say they’re 0-1 in the taking care of business department.

So that brings us to this Sunday in Jacksonville. Coach Reich and the Colts have another opportunity to take care of an inferior (albeit better and rising) opponent in the Jaguars.

Win or lose the aftermath at West 56th Street will be fascinating.

Thursday on The Dan Dakich Show the Voice of the Colts Matt Taylor stopped by to look ahead to Colts-Jags and reflect back on last week’s tie to Houston.

Plus, Matt spoke with us about:

  • the status of Shaq Leonard for Week 2
  • the keys to a Colts victory over Jacksonville
  • the biggest areas for Colts to improve
  • the apparent end of the T.Y. Hilton Era in Indianapolis
