Indianapolis – Nearly 3 weeks removed from the Colts trading Carson Wentz to Washington and the Colts bringing in veteran QB Matt Ryan, fans have begun to get a clearer picture of how the team, front office, and ownership viewed the former QB.

Colts HC Frank Reich has continued to sing Wentz’s praises, even going as far as saying he believes that Wentz can be a top 10 QB with Washington:

Actions speak louder than words and its even been reported that Frank Reich had to apologize to Colts Owner Jim Irsay for the failed QB experiment in 2021.

The players were the only group of people where it wasn’t known how they felt about Wentz and if he could be a franchise QB. For the first time, Colts fans now have an answer to that question. The Athletics’ Zak Keefer joined 107.5 The Fan afternoon host JMV on his show Monday and dropped some information on what the players thought of Wentz last season:

“One thing that has been made clear the last 24 hours in Palm Beach (for the NFL Annual Meetings) is that this wasn’t just Irsay. There were a couple players who just felt like he didn’t see the offense the way the offense needed to be seen and ran. These are players on the team talking about the QB. The fans have seen this. The fans have seen the open receivers and the players felt that as well.”

Even though Frank Reich has been and will continue to be a major Carson Wentz supporter, it was clear that the owner, the GM, and now we know some players that felt like the best path for the Colts moving forward to be a Super Bowl competitor was with a new QB.
