We waited for months and months for the start of March Madness and in the blink of an eye we’ve already reached the Sweet 16.

The first and second rounds of the Big Dance were filled with down to the wire games, favorites getting tested, and Cinderella stories unfolding.

Few stories, however, were as magical as the run by Peacocks of Saint Peter’s who knocked off basically the entire State of Kentucky over the weekend.

First, the Peacocks pulled off one of the biggest upsets in NCAA Tournament history when they upset the #2 seed Wildcats in overtime in the Round of 64.

Then Saint Peter’s punched it’s ticket to the Sweet 16, becoming the first MAAC school to do so, by defeating the #7 seed Murray State Raiders.

Now the little school from Jersey City sits two wins away from a trip to the Final Four and standing in their way is the #3 seed Purdue Boilermakers.

A #15 seed making the Sweet 16 is a historic accomplishment, but it’s been done before. You know what hasn’t been done before? A #15 seed advancing to the Elite Eight, which the Peacocks can achieve with another unprecedented upset.

Likely? No. But possible? Yes, because in March, anything is possible.

Monday on The Dan Dakich Show we caught up with the head coach of Saint Peter’s Shaheen Holloway who took us through this magical journey and how he kept his guys focused on Murray State after the big win over Kentucky. Plus, Shaheen gives us an early preview of the Peacocks matchup with Purdue on Friday.

Give Dan’s chat with Coach Shaheen Holloway a listen below and don’t miss The Dan Dakich Show, weekdays 12-3pm, on 93.5 and 107.5 The Fan.
