If we turn the clocks back 8 days, the Indiana Hoosiers felt like a team headed towards the NIT with the only salvation residing in the Big Ten Conference Tournament, an event that has historically been a house of horrors for Indiana.

What a difference a week can make for a program.

After defeating Michigan yesterday in the Opening Round of the Big Ten Tournament, the Hoosiers followed it up by upsetting top seeded Illinois 65-63 in the Quarterfinals on Thursday.

Now it should be noted, I am not a Bracketologist, but I do follow it all pretty closely especially this time of year. All that being said if you asked me whether I think Indiana belongs in the Big Dance, I would tell you absolutely.

They are playing their best basketball at the right time, have added two high level wins to a resume that already includes Ws over Notre Dame, Ohio State and Purdue, and only have one “bad loss” (last week’s debacle vs Rutgers).

So yes, in JCook’s Bracket, the Indiana Hoosiers are GOING DANCING for the first time since 2016.

Unfortunately, it’s not up to yours truly. It’s up to the members of the NCAA Selection Committee who will set the field of 68 this Sunday.

So in order to get a better perspective on this process and a more objective look at where Indiana’s NCAA Tournament hopes are at, The Dan Dakich Show turned to longtime Bracketologist for CBS Sports Jerry Palm.

Jerry took some time to evaluate the Hoosiers’ resume as a whole and how it compares to other teams that are fighting on the bubble for a spot in the Big Dance.

Be warned that Jerry’s evaluation of Indiana, which happened AFTER the win over Illinois, may surprise you.

Give Dan’s chat on IU’s tournament hopes with Jerry Palm a listen below and don’t miss The Dan Dakich Show, weekdays 12-3pm Eastern, on 93.5 and 107.5 The Fan.
