There are few stories in sports more special and motivational than when a hometown kid is able to make good and winds up playing for his city’s professional team.

For now retired Colts TE Jack Doyle, that script played out in such a way that even Hollywood would have tossed it aside. Doyle announced yesterday that he was hanging it up after 9 seasons and 2 Pro Bowl campaigns, all for the franchise he grew up rooting for.

It’s an inspirational story and one that will remind the kids of Indianapolis that there’s no dream too great to chase, as long as you give it your all and never take yourself too seriously.

Tuesday on The Dan Dakich Show Dan spoke with the man that took a chance on Doyle and signed him during the 2013 NFL Offseason, former Colts GM and current Senior Football Advisor for the Minnesota Vikings Ryan Grigson.

Grigson shares what traits, both on and off the field, stood out the most to him about Jack and why he ultimately chose to make him a member of the Colts. Ryan also looked back at the accomplishments Doyle had over the course of nine season and the impact he made on Indianapolis.

Give Dan’s chat with Ryan Grigson a listen below and don’t miss The Dan Dakich Show, weekdays 12-3pm Eastern, on 93.5 and 107.5 The Fan.
