Why does Frank Reich seem to be getting a pass after the disastrous ending for the Colts this year?

Plenty of people are going after Chris Ballard for not supplying the roster with enough help at skill positions to give Jonathan Taylor a safety net. The Colts already fired their defensive line coach, got a new defensive coordinator, and rebuilt the coaching staff on that side of the ball.

And there didn’t seem to be a whole lot of tears shed when Matt Eberflus took the Bears job.

When Reich didn’t give a definitive answer on Carson Wentz’s status to end the season, that’s when things weren’t passing the smell test over at the Colts Complex.

Now, it seems like Wentz is about to be ousted in about a month’s time.

This is a whole new meaning to when Julius Caesar got told to “Beware the Ides of March”. How’s that for showing that I paid attention in high school English class?

Only sometimes though.

Anyway, what occurred from December 26, 2021 through January 9, 2022 inside the day-to-day operations of the Colts was like a bomb exploding. Everything was ruined.

If this same thing happened in a place like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, or Miami, and the team lost to the worst squad in existence to end a season, the head coach would be sent packing faster than 50 Cent’s time spent upside down during the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

I’m not saying Reich should be fired.

But Wentz was his last true shot to have any kind of sustained winning and playoff dominance in Indianapolis. Whoever you bring in next, their potential success won’t be because Reich is calling plays.
