Indianapolis – After avoiding two Patriots defenders in the hole, Jonathan Taylor was free into the open field. With Patriots CB J.C. Jackson in pursuit Taylor seemed to slow down for a second only to then re-accelerate for the touchdown to put the Colts up 27-17.
The star Colts RB joined JMV on his show Wednesday and explained what he was doing:
“In those situations we have a call so we know that if we pop a big run to go down before we get into the end zone and we didn’t get that call…I was looking over at the sideline to see if anyone was pointing down, telling me to go down before I got to the end zone … You don’t want to be that guy that scores when you’re not supposed to.”

After the interview JMV couldn’t believe that it wasn’t the oncoming defender was worried about, but rather looking to the sideline to make sure he could score the TD:
“Did you know that? That he was looking at the sideline to go down instead of looking back to see where the defense was? I didn’t want to get into it with him but that’s hard for me to even fathom. Just incredible.”
JMV had the chance to ask Taylor about a number of different things including whether or not he hears the fans campaigning for him to be MVP, if he watches Hard Knocks every week like the fans do, and how much energy the Lucas Oil Stadium crowd gave the entire team last Saturday night.
