That type of coverage has only amplified since the team acquiring Carson Wentz from the Eagles this offseason. While the coverage has increased, so too has the pressure on Indy to succeed within its proverbial “window” of contention.

During Thursday’s show, Dan Dakich stressed type of impact Wentz has on that window.

“Windows close really fast in the NFL.” Dakich said. “The Colts have a window and the window widens if you know you have a quarterback that’s gonna be your guy for the next 4-5 years.”

In the NFL, quarterbacks rule the day. So much so that nearly every Super Bowl Champion this century has been led by a generational talent under center.

“I think the quarterback position, and Carson Wentz, are that important when we talk windows,” Dakich said.

Since Andrew Luck’s retirement in 2019, the Colts have been on a mission to find a generational piece that can stabilize the most important position in the game and put them back among the top teams in the league.

Carson Wentz, the man hoping for a fresh start to his NFL career and the Colts’ latest test subject in that hunt for a QB, gets his chance in 3 days time.
