With College Football only a week away JMV called on the ultimate CFB Expert Phil Steele to preview the 2021 CFB Season!
After a strong year in 2020, Tom Allen and IU have high expectations for the 2021 campaign and Phil Steele provides a blueprint for a shot at upsetting Ohio State:
“I think it’s going to be tough, but if they end up winning that game against Iowa early on and they get past Cincinnati you know doggone well that Indiana is going to be believing in itself and believing they can do it.”
Does Notre Dame have enough talent to compete for a College Football Playoff berth?
“My main set of power rankings actually calls for them to go 12-0 so despite everyone being down a little bit on Notre Dame with so few returning starters. I like the defense, I think the offense will be better than expected, they have a solid special teams. While the schedule is not easy, there’s not a single non bowl caliber team on that schedule. It’s also not unwinnable, I don’t they have any of the elite teams there so it wouldn’t surprise me to see the Irish return to the playoff.”
And finally, will Jeff Brohm and Purdue bounce back after a disappointing 2-4 effort?
“With 9 starters back on offense and 9 on defense I give them a shot at getting back to a bowl game this year and I think they’ll play better than they did at the end of last season, clearly.”
