There’s quite a bit on the line across the board for Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 Mile Race.
Will it be Tony Kanaan’s last ride? Does Ed Carpenter finally get one? Is Scott Dixon going to win his second career 500?
But here’s one of the biggest questions.
Is Hélio Castroneves destined to drink the milk for his fourth win at 16th and Georgetown?
Few drivers have ever been dancing with history like Hélio has. He gets another opportunity; This time with Meyer Shank Racing in the middle of row three.
Meyer Shank set up Castroneves for nothing but success with a very fast race car after his departure from Team Penske. Hélio was also kind enough to take some time with DD on The Dan Dakich Show Thursday.
“I don’t think it was a divorce (with Penske),” Castroneves said. “After 20 years, we achieved a lot of our goals and dreams. I didn’t want to keep waiting for a new scenario and wanted to go back to IndyCar. And it was a great opportunity with a new young team. Team Penske and I are on great terms.”
So no drama there for sure.
But you can bet if Castroneves gets a win on Sunday, and then add to the cauldron that Simon Pagenaud and Will Power struggled during qualifying, Hélio will at least have a slightly bigger smile than the one he always sports.
Plus, did you see that +4200 line on Castroneves before quals?
Now that’s enticing.
