Are the Florida State Seminoles the true big-time sleeper in the NCAA Tournament?

Leonard Hamilton’s team looked GOOD in their blowout 71-53 victory over Colorado in the Round of 32. Scottie Barnes continues to play like the top NBA prospect that he is; And seven-footer Balsa Koprivica down low is a matchup nightmare.

The big question of the weekend is if can they do it again versus the number one seed Michigan Wolverines. Many are expecting this one to be a barnburner.

A guy like Koprivica, who played in a national AAU Tournament at Grand Park in Westfield back in 2017, will have his hands full in the Sweet 16. His responsibility is to contain fellow big man and former Florida State target Hunter Dickinson.

Dickinson has led the Wolverines through a challenging time without their star guard Isaiah Livers. Michigan felt the pressure in the Round of 32 from the LSU Tigers, but were able to move on. Will the Seminoles length frustrate them ever more though?

All of those questions were answered on The Dan Dakich Show Thursday. Coach Hamilton jumped on with Dan and dove into how his club is preparing to face Juwan Howard and company.

“Michigan runs a few more sets and have specific things they are looking for,” Hamilton said. “They have a point-five and a point-guard. The point-guard is making decisions and the center (Dickinson) really is such a great passer and finisher. I’ve never seen a guy like that who can kick the ball out to the three-point shooters and can finish around the basket.”

A couple other things about Coach Hamilton.

First off, the guy is 72-years-old. Bet you didn’t know that. He looks absolutely terrific.

Also, he is coaching with a ruptured achilles. Look it up.

While getting off the bus here in the bubble, he tore it and is now coaching in a walking boot. That’s a basketball guy right there.
