We don’t know the exact future of the marriage between Archie Miller and the Indiana Hoosiers.
But man, going 0-9 against arguably your biggest conference rival in the Purdue Boilermakers is brutal for any IU coach. Let alone Archie, who quite frankly has had more than just that single issue.
Dan Dakich is over it.
“The idea that we all need to sit back and say ‘well they hired Archie for the long run’ is sad,” DD said on The Fan Monday afternoon. “I’m just telling you what has transpired with Indiana is absurd, but not unexpected. At the end of the day, I 100 percent tried to tell you. I’m not gloating on this though. I hope they give Archie another year, I don’t want him to get fired.”
The Hoosiers are going to need about as magical a run as we’ve ever seen to sneak back into the NCAA Tournament bubble.
Per ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, IU was among the “Next Four Out” in his bracketology report last Wednesday. After Syracuse picked up a key win in the ACC over Clemson, the Orange leapfrogged Indiana.
Now with the Purdue loss, you couldn’t find any crimson on Lunardi’s report if you looked with a magnifying glass.
“All of the sudden everybody at Indiana understands culture and they’re using that word,” DD added. “When I said it none of you had any clue. You got mad at me. Indiana is in the position they’re in because they took a guy like Archie who won a game or two.”
The Big Ten Tournament will get rolling from Lucas Oil Stadium on Wednesday.
In the 10-seed versus 7-seed matchup, it’s IU against Rutgers on Thursday. During the regular season, the Hoosiers dropped both matchups against the Scarlet Knights.
It’s got to be all-in right now. Because if that’s not the case, it’s going to be trouble in Bloomington.
